Data Center POST had the opportunity to chat with Arun while he was attending Datacloud Europe, taking place this week in Monaco. He talked about the market drivers that are impacting the European data center sector and what the future holds for Serverfarm on the Continent.
Data Center POST, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question: Serverfarm recently made entry into the European market with a London facility and you are very familiar with the European landscape already. What market trends in Europe are you currently watching with great interest?
Serverfarm, Arun Shenoy (SF-AS) Answer: The market trends that will drive European data center growth are multiple telcos investing in 5G networks, the growth of IoT that will consume data capacity and connectivity, the GDPR, and the need to build capacity closer to customers to better manage data sovereignty. Additionally, the continuous move to the cloud will require reshaping of the infrastructure.
DCP-KX Q: What topics are you most interested to learn more about from your industry colleagues while at Datacloud Europe this week?
SF-AS A: We are always interested in the way the industry is innovating as it grows towards strengthening global connection and communication. We also like to better understand the challenges others are having because we strongly believe that working together is the only way the industry as a whole can provide global solutions.
DCP-KX Q: What is next for Serverfarm in Europe?
SF-AS A: We are helping our customers to cloudify everything physical and remove the pain of data center management by making their physical world agile. We are currently working with select customers who are expanding into various areas of the European market by managing everything physical to support their virtual world.
